it seems meaningless, yet you want life to prolong,
it's not that it's bad, even though everything's wrong,
it's tragically so beautiful, you decide to write a song.
you gym, you drum, you are at work till two,
triple checked the numbers, but Murphy finds his way into,
you revise everything you said, you sent, you did, and hope people don't misconstrue,
the spreadsheets and charts, in your dreams, they say, boo!
try hard to sleep, but the emptiness really gets to you,
so you try to think of nicer things, but you are scared it may not come true,
do you care? no, yes, no, aaargh ... you just need something to look forward to,
you bastard, no matter what you get, you'll always rue!
make a to do list, for a day, month, year, a life,
and then you go sit on the couch, watch a lame hbo movie, or TSN folks cutting shoes with a knife!
you feel guilty, there are items on that list to strike,
'pay the bills', 'buy eggs', 'lunch with D', 'fix the bike',
you are on the run, bullet to bullet on that list, it is your north star,
you don't know where it's taking you? reckon, not very far,
but at least it fills up your day,
keeps the deeper questions at bay,
while you wait, wait for the next turn, that'll lead to the perfect life,
till then ...
hit the gym at eleven, or miss it, dinner at nine,
you love it, don't you? you slave of time,
it squeezes you hard, like you were a spring,
you are maxed out, but too proud to say, you have hit the brink,
and then...
suddenly, it takes off it's hand, and then you bounce,
spaced out, clueless, you start to jounce,
stranded in the endless desert of time,
check your mail twice in ten minutes, it feels like a crime,
there are books to read, people to meet; but, what you have in plenty, you try to optimize,
and none of these, right now, seem to make your happiness maximize
and again...
you wait, wait for the next turn, that'll lead to the perfect life,
whatever that is? private jet, romance, just no mental strife,
not as an epiphany, but, it slowly dawns on you...
this is it, this is your life,
you have been on that turn, since the day you were born,
you were waiting for nothing, dreams are as true as santa or unicorn,
happiness is evasive, stop the pursuit,
feel now, let it sink through,
appreciate the beauty, that is the key,
a game of paintball, a dip in the sea,
drink beer with a friend, enjoy when you pee,
ride the balmy wind on your face, the roads are dusty,
the baby's yawn, beautiful? isn't she?
the street urchin's oblivious smile, he's all glee,
laugh at the government's new meaningless decree,
the taste of water, when the mercury's at 38 C,
the cuts-through-your-shoe knife, the hbo movie,
this is all life will ever be,
so, feel now, let it sink through,
funny things it will make you do,
write a song; mean I, when you say you!

SO, I'm game for chat games
Even though, I'm not sure I understand the rules.
Take the 'chat-status' for instance.
'Busy'. What's that supposed to mean?
That's saying:
"Look, I'm here. I want you to know I'm here. I want you to know that I have a machine - that, I have access to internet - that, I logged into the chat application - that, I would like to talk to you lesser people - But, I'm an important person - I'm going to play hard to get - I'm BUSY."
YET, I receive most messages from friends who are 'busy'.
Their most frequently used opening line: "Hey Wassup? Gosh! I'm Bored!"
And, has that RED 'busy ball', or the program's irritating reminder - 'You may be interrupting the receiver' - ever stopped any of us from doing exactly that?
No! Hell No!
I tried to maintain that discipline, until, one day I decided to play hard to get and went 'Busy'. Instantaneously I started receiving more messages than a whole 'chat' lifetime of 'Available Invisibility'.
Wish we could do the same in real life. Walk around wearing a cap with a bulb on it.
Just click - the bulb goes RED - with a message saying - 'I am Busy' - hovering around. Every time people start to talk, a voice over (a sexy husky female voice) let's people know they are 'interrupting'.
***
'Busy' people are definitely faking it, because they chose against the 'Go Invisible' option.
The Invisible option.
I personally believe, it's the greatest invention after the wheel, cable TV, and 2-minute noodles.
Greater than internet itself.
To me, going invisible online, is living my boyhood fantasy, only in the virtual world.
[Somehow, my invisibility to people in real life doesn't excite me as much!]
It's the power of being invisible that gives the kick. You are on the other side of this force field, chuckling away in disdain, looking at the lesser virtual beings playing their stupid chat games with their lame 'busy' sign and lamer 'status messages'.
***
I JUST don't understand Status Messages'!
Human's irresistible love for graffiti just doesn't wear off, does it?
They have to demonstrate how they feel, in every single inch of public space they get.
They didn't even leave that tiny space that's supposed to show if you are available to talk, or are off to lunch!
"I'm at a crossroads in life ..."
"My wounds don't heal ..."
"Happy B'day ..."
"Plato said ..."
"I like ice-creams ..."
"My cat has an itch in it's ..."
Do I care?!
If everyone is sooooo enthusiastic about these status messages, again, how about doing the same in real life?>!
Walk around wearing tees that reads your status:
"I'm Available."
"Buy me a drink."
"Don't even think about it!"
It's any day better than the tees with lame random letters/numbers printed on it!
" 'WQSG 87Z', Whoa! his tee says 'WQSG 87Z'. I don't what that means, but it must be something very very important and cool!"

So, I'm game for chat games.
SEE you there.
(Or, maybe YOU will NOT be able to! Muwahahaha!)
